Pence, who was sworn in on January 6, told reporters on January 9 that he was “thrilled” to hear Trump had asked him about the ongoing Russia investigation.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed the investigation as a “witch hunt.”
“He’s doing a great job, you know, he’s doing the right thing,” Pence told reporters, according to The Associated Press.
“I’m very grateful to him.”
Trump also said on January 10 that he would not be answering questions from the House Intelligence Committee about the investigation, saying the committee is “a witch hunt” and “a phony group of people” that he has “no deal with.”
“I don’t want to answer any questions about it, no deal,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
“The Russians have nothing to do with it.”
