“Lego is just a brand.”
That’s the general sentiment of the Lego Movie review.
But then again, that’s a common refrain from fans of the toy line who are tired of having their favorite characters sidelined in the endless Lego Movie sequels.
“Legos aren’t really about what they’re supposed to be, but about what makes them special,” says Kevin Murphy, a director at The Lego Group.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the original movie and this new one, and I just feel like it’s got that same sort of Lego feel, but with a different approach to it.”
The Lego movies have always had their own unique spin on the beloved Lego franchise.
They’re all about the little things, the quirky characters and the iconic moments.
“They have an original take on the franchise, and we love them for it,” says Michael Cheek, a creative director at Pixar.
“This is the way they want to do it, and they are great at it.
This is a brand they can stand behind.”
The first two Lego movies, The Dark Knight and The Lego Ninjago Movie, both featured Batman as the villain.
“The Lego Batman franchise is more grounded than the other movies,” says Matt Fitton, president of Lego Group North America.
“We wanted to take the audience on a journey with Batman and then introduce a new character to his world, which is the Lego Ninjas.
We also took advantage of our global fan base by introducing a brand new character, Robin, who’s played by the wonderful Keira Knightley.
“There are a lot of cool things that are going to happen, and hopefully people will have a lot to talk about as the movie continues.” “
You can tell that we have a really good story, and that this franchise is going to be an incredibly exciting one,” he adds.

The latest installment in the Lego series is due out in theaters May 5.
“It’s going to feel like you’re watching an animated film,” says Fitton.
“So, I don’t want to spoil too much, but there are going be lots of great surprises.”
